Alpharetta, GA, February 25, 2025: Fulton Science Academy (FSA) has made history in the prestigious Future City International Competition, with both its middle and high school teams achieving remarkable success. The middle school team secured a spot in the Top 3 among 46 finalist teams, marking the first time a Georgia team has placed in the top tier of the competition. Meanwhile, the high school team claimed the coveted first-place title, solidifying FSA’s position as a leader in STEM education.
The Future City competition, which engages more than 70,000 students worldwide, challenges young innovators to design futuristic, sustainable cities using the Engineering Design Process (EDP) and project management skills. This year’s theme, “Above the Current,” tasked students with building a floating city that ensures safety and well-being through innovative solutions.

FSA’s high school team—comprised of Shloka N, Omav M, Ayaan S, Arvin R, and Zen N—impressed judges with their meticulously designed model, in-depth research, and forward-thinking approach. Months of dedication, collaboration, and problem-solving went into crafting their vision, reflecting their passion for engineering and sustainability. Their triumph even caught the attention of the media, with Good Morning Washington featuring their achievement.
The competition wasn’t just about winning; it was an opportunity for students to grow as innovators and problem-solvers. Their success has put Georgia on the map in the international STEM landscape and serves as an inspiration for future generations.
