Los Angeles, CA, July 3, 2025: Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone has been named among the distinguished Class of 2026 honorees who will receive a star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame. The announcement, made on July 3 by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, marks a historic milestone—Padukone is set to become the first Indian actress and first Indian national to receive this prestigious honor in the Motion Pictures category.
The Indian actress joins a star-studded list of this year’s inductees, including Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Kerry Washington, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and the late Prince. Their contributions span across multiple entertainment sectors, such as film, television, music, and live performance.
While Deepika is the first Indian woman to receive a star, she follows in the footsteps of Sabu Dastagir, an Indian-origin actor who became the first person of Indian descent to be honored on the Walk of Fame back in 1960. Sabu, who starred in films such as The Thief of Bagdad and The Jungle Book (1942), became a U.S. citizen before being posthumously recognized for his groundbreaking contributions to Hollywood.
Padukone’s upcoming star adds to her growing list of international achievements. The acclaimed actress made her Hollywood debut opposite Vin Diesel in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, served on the Cannes Film Festival jury, and is a global ambassador for top fashion houses including Louis Vuitton and Cartier. She is also celebrated for her powerful performances in Bollywood hits such as Padmaavat, Chennai Express, Piku, and Om Shanti Om.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame currently features more than 2,700 stars embedded along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street in Los Angeles. Recipients have two years from the date of selection to schedule their unveiling ceremony. Padukone’s ceremony date has not yet been announced.
