Atlanta, GA, April 20, 2026: The Atlanta chapter of Sankara Nethralaya USA hosted a “Meet ’n Greet” event on April 12 at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta NE – Norcross, drawing more than 250 attendees from across Georgia and neighboring states. The evening also marked the formal induction of Medlytix LLC CEO Arvind Krishnaswami as the newest member of the organization’s Board of Advisors.
The program began with the traditional Jyothi Prajwalana, or ceremonial lighting of the lamp, led by chapter president Bala Reddy Indurti along with dignitaries including Padma Bhushan awardee Dr. Jagdish Sheth; donors and brand ambassadors Shankar Subramonian, Arvind Krishnaswami, and Jaya Krishnaswami; Board of Advisors member and Treasurer Moorthy Rekapalli; JC Shaker Reddy; Board of Trustees members Dr. Reddy Urimindi and Meher Lanka; Cultural Chair Neelima Gaddamanugu; Chapter Vice President Venky Neelam; and other members of the Atlanta team, in the presence of priest Shri Narasimhacharyulu.

The cultural program featured students from Atlanta’s classical dance and music academies led by Shanti Medicherla of Suswara Sangeetha Vidyalayam, Soujanya Madhusudhan of Bharata Darshan School of Indian Classical Dance and Music, Mital Patel of Kalaxya Academy, and Neelima Gaddamanugu of Nataraja Natyanjali Kuchipudi Dance Academy.
Playback singer Ramu from Chennai performed alongside local artists Shilpa Uppuluri, who also served as master of ceremonies, Phani Dokka, Ram Durvasula, Usha Mocherla, Shanti Medicherla, and Raga Vahini, presenting a multilingual medley. Indurti referred to Ramu as “SPB Manasaputra” while acknowledging the performance.

A key moment of the evening was the recognition of Krishnaswami’s $555,000 contribution. According to Indurti, $155,000 will support 12 Mobile Eye Surgical Unit (MESU) Adopt-A-Village eye camps, three of which have already been conducted in Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh, with a fourth scheduled in Nellore. The remaining camps are expected to be organized over the next few years.
An additional $400,000 will be used to establish a new MESU in an underserved region of India, with locations in Maharashtra and Gujarat under consideration in coordination with Sankara Nethralaya India President Dr. Girish Rao.

Indurti also acknowledged the role of Dr. Reddy Urimindi, a trustee from Dallas and a former classmate of Krishnaswami, in introducing him to the organization. “This introduction has already enabled 12 MESU eye camps and provided capital funding for one MESU unit,” he said.
Krishnaswami’s background spans multiple regions of India, including Madurai, Bangalore, and New Delhi, before he pursued engineering studies at REC Surat (now NIT Surat) and later completed an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and an MBA at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
Indurti said the organization has grown from seven chapters in 2016 to 30 chapters nationwide, attributing the expansion to “a strong team of dedicated volunteers and the blessings of the founder.”

The organizers thanked volunteers and team members including Treasurer Moorthy Rekapalli; Board of Trustees member Meher Lanka; Chapter Vice President Venky Neelam; Cultural Chair Neelima Gaddamanugu; Trustee Dr. Kishore Reddy Rasamallu; Chairs Ramesh Chaparala and Giri Kotagiri; Committee Members Paddy Rao and Subba Rao; Chapter Lead Srinivas Durgam; Youth Committee Member Charithra Julapally; and Chapter Leads Karthikeyan Vinayagam and Logiya Avilineli for their contributions to the event.
