Washington, Sep 5 (IANS) South Carolina’s Indian American Governor Nikki Haley created a bit of spicy news as she locked herself out of the governor’s mansion in her robe and in a display of transparency posted it on Facebook.
“What not to do … getting locked out of the Governor’s mansion in your robe while sending the kids off to school. sigh…#adayinthelife,” Haley, daughter of Sikh immigrant parents from India, wrote on her public Facebook page Wednesday morning.
The post quickly generated buzz on Facebook, collecting more than 4,400 likes and close to 550 comments as of Wednesday night, CNN reported.
But Haley, born Nimrata Nikki Randhawa, wasn’t forced out of her house for too long. Her communications director, Doug Mayer, told CNN she was only outside for a “couple minutes” before her daughter, Rena, let her back in.
With the Republican governor running for re-election in 2014, her political opponents wasted no time pouncing on her morning blunder, the channel said.
“File this under Fake Transparency, because it certainly is telling about Nikki Haley’s priorities when it comes to sharing information with the people of South Carolina,” the South Carolina Democratic Party said in an e-mail release.
