About the Speaker: William Smith, a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Engineer, has a Master’s degree in Geographic Information Systems from the University of South Carolina. As an Army Officer, he pioneered this new technology within the Department of Defense. William is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College and has held many leadership positions during his successful 20 year military career. William retired from the Army in 1998 and spends his time in volunteer work for the Science of Spirituality. He currently directs the Darshan Meditation Camp, a summer camp for children, and assists in managing a meditation retreat center near Washington D.C. William has practiced meditation since 1973. He has traveled extensively and given talks on meditation and spirituality in several countries.
