VFS Global Expands Indian Consular Services in US to 16 Locations

Boston, Dallas, Detroit, and five other cities added; Los Angeles center to open in August.

Washington D.C., August 2, 2025: The Indian Mission in the United States and VFS Global have announced the opening of eight new Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs), expanding the total number of centres across the U.S. to 16. The new centres are located in Boston, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Edison, Orlando, Raleigh, and San Jose. A 17th centre is set to open in Los Angeles later this month.

These centres will provide a range of services including India visa applications, Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI), passport services, renunciation of Indian citizenship, police clearance certificates, the Global Entry Programme (GEP), and miscellaneous/attestation services.

VFS Global remains the exclusive service provider for these consular functions on behalf of the Government of India in the United States. The expansion aims to improve accessibility for the 5.3 million-strong Indian diaspora and other applicants seeking consular services.

Key improvements introduced with the expanded network include:

  • Saturday service hours for added flexibility.
  • Return courier services included in standard fees.
  • Complimentary services such as photographs, photocopies, and form filling at ICACs.
  • A broader range of consular services offered at each centre.

Indian Ambassador to the U.S. Vinay Mohan Kwatra said the expansion will make consular services “faster and more accessible” and strengthen people-to-people ties between India and the U.S.

“These new centres will significantly enhance our ability to deliver services to a vibrant Indian diaspora,” he said.

Amit Kumar Sharma, Head of North America & Caribbean for VFS Global, said the centres will “play a crucial role in catering to the growing demand for visa and consular services to India led by business partnerships, tourism, and trade.”

The new centres will serve applicants within the consular jurisdictions of the Indian consulates in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington D.C.
