Over 60 Deep Frozen Products Recalled Nationwide Over Salmonella Concerns

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

Washington, D.C., September 14, 2025: Chetak LLC Group, the parent company behind the Deep brand, has expanded its voluntary recall to include dozens of frozen vegetables and fruit products amid concerns of Salmonella contamination. The company first announced a recall on July 16, 2025, after routine testing found Salmonella in sprouted beans. The action has since widened following additional positive test results and federal guidance.

The recall now covers more than 60 Deep-branded frozen products, including:

  • Frozen Deep-brand Sprouted Mat (Moth) Beans, Lot IN 24353K, 24354K, 25072K
  • Frozen Deep-brand Sprouted Moong (Mung) Beans, Lot IN 25058K
  • Frozen Deep-brand Premium Select Surti Undhiu Mix, Lot IN 25158K
  • Frozen Deep-brand Premium Select Singoda, Lot IN 25150K

Chetak says the expanded recall also includes frozen vegetable and fruit products manufactured on the same equipment between December 18, 2024, and August 18, 2025. Products were distributed nationwide in retail stores and packaged in flexible plastic bags, with lot numbers and use-by dates printed on the back panel.

Salmonella Risk

Salmonella can cause severe illness, particularly in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Typical symptoms include diarrhea (sometimes bloody), fever, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the infection can spread to the bloodstream, leading to arterial infections, endocarditis, or arthritis.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported at least 11 infections in 10 states linked to the outbreak, including four hospitalizations, though Chetak emphasizes that no illnesses have been directly tied to the latest recalled products.

Company and FDA Response

Chetak has suspended production of the affected products while it investigates the source of the contamination. The company said it is working closely with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and regulatory authorities, stressing its commitment to “compliance, safety, and quality.”

“We believe open communication is vital to maintaining consumer trust, and the Company is dedicated to supporting its customers throughout this process,” Chetak stated in its press release.

What Consumers Should Do

  • Check freezers for any recalled Deep-brand frozen products.
  • Do not consume them. Instead, discard immediately or return to the point of purchase.
  • Additional previously recalled lots include numbers 24330, 24297, 24291, and 24292.
  • For frozen vegetables not subject to recall, the company advises thorough cooking before use.

Consumers with questions may contact Chetak customer service at cservice@deepfoods.com or call (908) 810-7500, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.

The FDA continues to monitor the outbreak and investigate the potential source of contamination.
