Vedika Mehra Wins 2025 Decatur Book Festival Design Contest

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

Decatur, GA, Aug 4, 2025: The Decatur Book Festival has revealed Vedika Mehra, an illustrator and visual designer originally from India and now based in Atlanta, as the winner of its 2025 Design Contest. Her vibrant artwork—created in honor of the festival’s 20th anniversary—will serve as the official artwork for this year’s celebrations.

At its center is an open book, emblematic of stories unfolding, surrounded by elements of nature, stars, and joyful readers—all rendered in the festival’s brand colors. The design radiates warmth, imagination, and a celebration of community and storytelling.

Vedika is known as a visual storyteller whose inspiration stems from everyday life, human emotions, nostalgia, and imagination. She holds an MFA in Illustration from SCAD Atlanta and a bachelor’s in Visual Communication. Her work has earned recognition from prestigious outlets including American Illustration, World Illustration Awards, Creative Quarterly, Communication Arts, and Applied Arts magazine.

When not illustrating, Mehra laughs about her own habits: “overthinking, reading, binge-watching, and over-drinking coffee.”

Organizers said, “We’re thrilled to showcase her beautiful and heartfelt design as we mark this milestone year.”

The 2025 Decatur Book Festival will take place in downtown Decatur, Georgia, on October 3 and 4, 2025, featuring author panels, keynote and kidnote events, food, music, activities, and a Street Fair on Saturday, October 4, from 10 AM to 5:30 PM.
