NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT
Atlanta, GA, October 8, 2025: A disturbing video showing a woman launching a racist tirade at a group of Indian American friends inside a Chipotle restaurant in Atlanta has gone viral, reigniting conversations about hate and cultural ignorance.
The incident, recorded on August 22 at the Chipotle location on Ponce de Leon Avenue, shows a Black woman hurling racist insults at three Indian American customers who were waiting for their friend to collect an order from the register. According to the video posted by Instagram user @thatblackveteran, the confrontation began when the woman started mumbling remarks that the group could not understand. When they asked her to repeat herself, she shouted, “You caste system bitches. I’m not part of your cultural group. You are killers.”
The woman allegedly continued her outburst, threatening to “call ICE” on the group and using other derogatory language. The three friends, who remained calm throughout, did not engage further.
In a final act of aggression, the woman dropped her food on the floor in front of the group before being escorted out of the restaurant by security.
The incident has sparked anger and discussion online, with many calling out not just the racist remarks but also the minimization of the attack by some onlookers. “Nothing excuses racism,” @thatblackveteran says in the video. “The only ‘crime’ they committed was existing.”
Chipotle has not publicly commented on the incident, and it is unclear whether a police report was filed.
The confrontation is a reflection of the persistence of racial prejudice faced by South Asians and other minority communities, even in diverse urban settings like Atlanta. It has also reignited conversations about how casual racism often goes unchecked in public spaces.
