New Delhi, September 30, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday welcomed U.S. President Donald J. Trump’s announcement of a comprehensive plan aimed at ending the ongoing Gaza conflict, describing it as a “viable pathway to long-term and sustainable peace, security, and development” for both the Palestinian and Israeli people, as well as the wider West Asian region.
In a post shared on X, Modi said, “We welcome President Donald J. Trump’s announcement of a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict. It provides a viable pathway to long term and sustainable peace, security and development for the Palestinian and Israeli people, as also for the larger West Asian region. We hope that all concerned will come together behind President Trump’s initiative and support this effort to end conflict and secure peace.”
The Prime Minister’s statement comes amid growing international support for Trump’s proposal, which aims to bring an end to the months-long conflict through a phased ceasefire, exchange of prisoners, and disarmament of militant groups such as Hamas. The plan also envisions the establishment of a transitional administrative authority in Gaza under international supervision, followed by gradual Israeli withdrawal contingent upon verified security guarantees.
President Trump unveiled the proposal alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier this week. Netanyahu expressed cautious support, describing it as an “important step,” while insisting on stringent security provisions and disarmament commitments from Hamas.
Hamas, on its part, has said it will “study the proposal” before issuing a formal response. Meanwhile, several regional and global powers — including Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates — have welcomed the plan as a constructive framework for peace. European nations such as France and Germany have also voiced optimism, noting that the initiative aligns with international efforts to stabilize the region.
In India, the Israeli Ambassador, Reuven Azar, thanked Prime Minister Modi for his “principled support for peace,” adding that New Delhi could play a key role in post-conflict reconstruction, given its expertise in infrastructure and development projects.
