New Sightings Give Family Hope in Search for Nihar Mehta, Missing Since 2023

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

Orange County, CA, September 19, 2025: The family of 22-year-old Nihar “Mars” Mehta has renewed its urgent appeal for help after receiving what they describe as credible sightings of him in Garden Grove and Westminster.

Mehta, who has been missing since June 2023, was last seen in Orange County near 1440 North Glassell Street on June 2, and his car was later discovered abandoned on June 23. Standing six feet three inches tall and weighing about 225 pounds, he was last seen wearing a black NASA hoodie, black jeans, and black Converse shoes.

A person who told investigators they were with Nihar and left him at a Covina Walmart on June 3 has since gone missing themselves, and their disappearance is now being examined in connection with the case.

Recent reports indicate that someone matching his description has been spotted in the area of Brookhurst Street and Westminster Avenue. Members of the local homeless community have also said they know him by the name “Mars.” These sightings have given his family renewed hope, but they remain deeply concerned about his mental health and overall safety after more than two years with no confirmed contact.

The Mehta family has offered a $10,000 reward for credible information that leads to his safe return. They are urging anyone who may have seen him, or who has information about his whereabouts, to come forward. Law enforcement continues to investigate the case.

The Orange County Police Department has also shared additional details asking the public to help locate a person of interest, 43-year-old Manuel Chavez Zamudio. To encourage leads, Mehta’s family is offering a $10,000 reward for credible information that results in Nihar’s safe return or in an arrest and conviction related to his case. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Orange Police Department at 714-744-7571. Additional information can be found at missinginorangecounty.com.

As of now, the reported sightings have not been officially confirmed, but the family hopes that the renewed public attention will bring verifiable leads that can finally end their ordeal.
