Mega Donor to GOP Urges India to Consult Her on Reading Trump’s Mind

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

Silicon Valley, CA, August 9, 2025: Asha Jadeja Motwani, a Silicon Valley-based venture capitalist and philanthropist, ignited debate this week after posting on X (formerly Twitter) that she is “the only Indian-American megadonor to the Republican Party” and urging the “Indian side” to consult her for insights into President Donald Trump’s thinking.

“I strongly recommend that the Indian side reach out to me for my opinion on what’s going on in Trump’s mind. I may not be accurate, but I will be close,” Jadeja wrote, positioning herself as a conduit between New Delhi and the Republican leader, who has recently sparred with India over trade issues.

Her remarks drew swift responses. Some users welcomed her involvement, thanking her “for doing what you are doing for country and Dharma”. Others were sharply critical, with one commenter urging her to direct her advice to Trump instead of “constantly pontificating to India,” and another suggesting she “remove that Indian flag” from her profile.

In a series of follow-up posts, Jadeja expanded on her views, including a call for India to show gratitude toward Trump for his recent diplomatic initiatives.

“What is the harm in saying ‘thank you’ to Trump?” she wrote. “He did officially authorize both JD Vance and Marco Rubio to call both India and Pakistan and try to broker a cease-fire. Whether it worked or not, is not the point—it was a well-intentioned effort. We should still give him a flower and a nice card and tell him thank you. Maybe I will do this on behalf of India.”

Jadeja also praised Trump’s mediation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, saying the way he “sat between both leaders and held their hands tells me that peace is close to his heart.” She suggested that if Trump were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for such efforts, “more power to him,” and claimed he is “working tirelessly even on the Russia and Ukraine peace.”

In yet another post, she called BRICS “toothless and ineffective,” warning India against aligning with China and urged a renewed embrace of the United States.

“Pairing up with China in any way is a dangerous game for India. They are unreliable, they resent our global diaspora and we don’t have any Indians there,” she wrote. “America… has 6 million Indian Americans running significant verticals like medicine, academia, and technology.”

In other recent posts, Jadeja has argued that India is a “wide open” market for American products, unlike Vietnam or Indonesia which already have trade deals with the EU and China. She has also suggested that India and the U.S. work together to pressure Russia toward peace, framing such cooperation as a way to “break the ice” for a larger strategic partnership.
