Indian Student Shot at 7-Eleven, Fighting for Life in ICU

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

Irving, TX, Aug 29, 2025 — A recent IT graduate from India, Deekshith Reddy, is fighting for his life after being shot at a 7-Eleven store in Irving, Texas, on August 26.

The young man, described by friends as hardworking, kind, and dedicated, sustained multiple injuries in the shooting, including a fractured collarbone, broken ribs, and a punctured lung. He is currently undergoing intensive monitoring and procedures in the ICU.

Deekshith, who recently completed his studies and was searching for employment in the IT sector, does not have health insurance. The mounting medical bills, along with surgery, rehabilitation, and living expenses, have placed a heavy financial burden on him and his family.

In response, his friends and well-wishers launched a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe to support his recovery. The appeal has struck a chord within the community, raising over $33,000 from more than 1,100 donors, quickly nearing its goal of $45,000.

“All donations will go directly toward hospital and medical expenses, ongoing recovery and rehabilitation care, and basic living expenses,” organizers stated.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
