Darke County, OH, March 28, 2026: A 33-year-old man has been charged with multiple felonies after a high-speed police chase ended in a crash that killed a pregnant 17-year-old girl, authorities said.
Tarsem Singh is accused of fleeing from law enforcement on February 16, 2026, leading deputies on a pursuit that reached speeds of more than 120 miles per hour, according to investigators.
Officials said Singh was driving a Range Rover when a deputy attempted to stop him. He failed to comply, triggering a chase that stretched several miles through Darke County.
During the pursuit, Singh’s vehicle crossed the center line and collided with another car before overturning. The passenger in his car, Ashlee Holmes, 17, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Authorities confirmed that Holmes was pregnant.
A grand jury has indicted Singh on multiple charges, including involuntary manslaughter, reckless homicide, aggravated vehicular homicide, failure to comply with a police order, and vehicular assault. He is being held on a $1 million bond.
Investigators have not publicly disclosed why deputies initially attempted to stop Singh or the nature of his relationship with Holmes. Those details may emerge as the case proceeds through court.
The crash remains under investigation.
