Former Republican Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, Now Running as Democrat, Reports $1.1 Million Raised

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

Atlanta, GA, February 3, 2026: Former Georgia Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan, now a Democratic candidate for governor, reported raising more than $1.1 million in his first campaign finance disclosure, according to a statement released by his campaign.

The campaign said the total came from more than 11,000 individual contributions, with an average donation of $103. Duncan launched his gubernatorial campaign in September.

In a statement included in the release, Duncan said his campaign is drawing support from Democrats, independents and some Republicans, and said his platform is focused on affordability, healthcare and opposition to former President Donald Trump.

Campaign manager Reese Adams McCranie said the campaign did not begin with an established Democratic fundraising base and described the first disclosure as an indication of early support for Duncan’s candidacy.

The campaign said the fundraising announcement follows recent endorsements and campaign events held in Atlanta, Savannah and Augusta.

Duncan served as Georgia’s lieutenant governor from 2019 to 2023. During his tenure, he worked with lawmakers from both parties on legislation related to rural healthcare access and hospital financing, and supported the passage of Georgia’s hate crimes law. He also publicly opposed efforts to overturn Georgia’s 2020 presidential election results and opposed proposals to create a separate city of Buckhead.

Before entering politics, Duncan was a collegiate and professional baseball player. He pitched at Georgia Tech, helping the team reach three NCAA Regional tournaments and the 1994 College World Series, and later played in the Florida Marlins’ minor league system from 1996 until 2001, when a shoulder injury ended his career.

Duncan is married and has three children. He has also worked as an entrepreneur since leaving professional baseball.
