Alpharetta Man Among 12 Arrested in Cherokee County Child Predator Sting

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

Alpharetta, GA, July 24, 2025: An Alpharetta man is among a dozen suspects arrested during a three-day undercover operation aimed at targeting alleged child predators, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office announced earlier this month.

The man, identified as Sudhakar Gogireddy, 34, faces multiple felony charges including trafficking a person for sexual servitude, use of a computer to seduce, solicit, lure or entice a child to commit an illegal act, and criminal attempt. According to the sheriff’s office, Gogireddy is on hold for ICE, and is currently being held without bond.

The arrests were part of Operation Phantom Whisper, a joint initiative involving federal, state, and local agencies, including Homeland Security Investigations, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and law enforcement agencies from Gwinnett, Cobb, and Grovetown. Investigators with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force posed as underage girls online and arranged meeting locations where suspects were subsequently taken into custody.

Authorities said 11 of the 12 men arrested traveled to Cherokee County locations believing they were meeting a 14-year-old girl. The twelfth suspect was arrested at his home on separate charges related to child exploitation material.

Sheriff’s officials emphasized the collaborative nature of the operation and its goal of protecting vulnerable minors. “These arrests highlight the ongoing dangers posed by individuals who use the internet to exploit children,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges could follow.
