9-Year-Old Boy Found Safe After Going Missing

Milpitas, CA, July 8, 2025: A collective sigh of relief was felt in the South Bay community after 9-year-old Harshail Kumar, who had been reported missing since the morning of July 3, was found safe and unharmed, according to Milpitas police.

The update came around 2:10 p.m. Friday, when police confirmed to NBC Bay Area that the young boy had been located. No further details were immediately released regarding where Harshail was found or the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

Harshail was last seen around 10 a.m. Thursday near the Edge Apartments at 765 Montague Expressway, close to the Great Mall in Milpitas. He was wearing a blue Minecraft T-shirt, black pants, and blue shoes at the time. The child is described as being 4-feet-5-inches tall, weighing 50 pounds, with black hair and eyes.

Milpitas police, with help from the Santa Clara County Search and Rescue team, had conducted extensive searches through Thursday and into Friday, calling on the public for any leads.

While the details remain limited, the outcome brought relief to the family and the local Indian American community, who had anxiously awaited updates.

Milpitas police have not released additional information at this time.
