NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT
Atlanta, GA, July 13, 2025: The Vedic Friends Association (VFA) recently held a special online event to honor Stephen Knapp (Sri Nandanandana Dasa), who was awarded the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian awards. The event brought together people from around the world to celebrate his lifelong dedication to sharing and preserving Sanātana Dharma and Vedic knowledge.
Stephen Knapp has written many books and given talks to help people better understand Vedic culture and Hindu spirituality. During the event, speakers praised his hard work, passion, and deep spiritual commitment. Many described how his work had touched their lives and inspired them.

The VFA shared that Stephen is now the third member of the association to receive the Padma Shri, joining respected scholars David Frawley (Vamadeva Shastri) and Subhash Kak. This was seen as a big moment for the VFA and a sign of how far the Vedic wisdom movement has come.
“This event was very special—not just for Stephen, but for all of us who believe in the power of Sanātana Dharma,” said Benny Tillman (Balabhadra dāsa), President of VFA. “We are grateful to everyone who helped make it such a meaningful and joyful occasion.”
The event featured speakers, artists, and supporters from around the world who shared stories, songs, and messages of appreciation.
