Cincinnati, Ohio, November 8, 2025: President Donald Trump has endorsed entrepreneur and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy for the 2026 Ohio governor’s race, calling him “young, strong, and smart.”
In a statement posted on his social media platform, President Trump described Ramaswamy as “something special” and offered his “complete and total endorsement.” He praised the Ohio native’s commitment to economic growth, cutting taxes and regulations, securing the border, promoting U.S. energy independence, upholding law and order, and defending the Second Amendment.
Ramaswamy, who was born in Cincinnati to Indian immigrant parents, rose to national prominence during the 2024 Republican presidential primaries, where he campaigned on an “America First” platform centered on deregulation, free enterprise, and opposition to “woke” corporate policies. A biotech entrepreneur and Yale Law School graduate, he later suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump.
The president’s backing gives Ramaswamy an early advantage in what is expected to be a competitive 2026 race. Analysts say the endorsement underscores Trump’s continued influence within the Republican Party, particularly in key battleground states like Ohio.
While the endorsement strengthens Ramaswamy’s standing among conservative voters, observers note that aligning closely with Trump’s brand could shape both the tone and trajectory of his campaign heading into the general election.
The Ohio gubernatorial election is scheduled for November 2026, with the field of candidates still taking shape.
