Siddharth Jain Welcomes India Inc’s First Tesla

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

In a milestone event for India’s electric vehicle (EV) landscape, Siddharth Jain, Executive Director of the INOX Group, has become the first corporate leader to take delivery of a Tesla in India, proudly dubbing it “India Inc’s first Tesla.”

Jain, an established name in India Inc through his stewardship of the diversified INOX businesses, took to social media to share a photo of himself with his new Tesla Model Y — a sleek, stealth-grey model — tagging Elon Musk and reflecting on a long-held ambition. He revealed that his dream dates back to 2017, when he first visited Tesla’s Fremont factory in California. “This one’s for you @ElonMusk!!! I am beyond thrilled to receive India Inc’s 1st @Tesla! I have been waiting for this precious moment ever since I visited the Tesla Fremont factory in 2017! Dreams do come true!” he wrote.

Tesla formally entered the Indian market in mid-July 2025, opening showrooms in Mumbai and New Delhi, among other centres. The Model Y is being offered in at least two variants — the rear-wheel drive (RWD) and the long-range all-wheel drive (AWD) — with ex-showroom prices ranging from approximately ₹60.1 lakh to ₹67.8 lakh depending on the variant and region.

Elon Musk himself congratulated Jain in a response to his social-media post, keeping the exchange simple: “Congrats!”

With Tesla’s arrival in the Indian market, and early adopters such as Siddharth Jain breaking ground, analysts expect a trickle (or perhaps a surge) of high-profile business leaders to follow.
