Fresno, CA, August 1, 2025: An Indian woman, Samanpreet Kaur, has publicly accused her husband, Navreet Singh, of living illegally in the United States after allegedly entering under false pretenses as an asylee. Samanpreet, who is currently raising their seven-year-old daughter alone, has appealed to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to investigate Navreet’s immigration status and alleged plans for a second marriage.
In a statement posted on Instagram, Samanpreet wrote:
“My name is Samanpreet Kaur and currently I am living in India. My husband went to USA in 2022 on asylum case. He is a fake asylee as he has no life threat here in his home country. And now he has married or is intending to marry someone or is having a live-in relationship … but he is still married to me legally. He went there illegally just to earn money as well [as] citizenship. We have [a] 7-year-old daughter named …. and he didn’t think twice before abandoning both of us.”
Samanpreet claims that she learned of Navreet’s plans to leave for the U.S. only on the day of his flight and did not stop him due to threats from her father-in-law. She further alleged that Navreet informed his father in December 2024 via WhatsApp that he had married for a green card, though she does not know if this is true.
Samanpreet says she is seeking justice, not revenge, and is prepared to provide proof of what she describes as a fake asylum claim. “I want him deported back to his home country as soon as possible,” she added.
According to her post, Navreet is currently residing in Fresno, California. She claimed to have evidence of his alleged fake asylum, including photos from their wedding and a video showing him crossing the U.S. border. “I want justice for me and my daughter,” she wrote, adding that bigamy is a criminal offense in both India and the United States.
