Florida Keys, March 25, 2026: A 43-year-old Indian national, identified as Abhinav Lamba, died following a scuba diving incident at Molasses Reef on Wednesday morning, according to authorities.
Lamba, who was visiting the United States on a tourist visa with his family, was part of a commercial dive excursion when he was found in distress in the water around 11 a.m. The incident occurred at Molasses Reef, a popular reef diving site in the Florida Keys.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, crew members aboard the dive boat noticed Lamba struggling before he went beneath the surface. He was quickly pulled from the water, and CPR was initiated onboard as the vessel returned to shore.
Emergency responders took over resuscitation efforts upon arrival, but Lamba later died at a hospital, officials said.
Authorities have not yet released the cause of death. The case is expected to be reviewed by the medical examiner to determine whether the incident was related to a medical emergency or a diving-related complication.
No additional details about Lamba’s background or his family members, who were traveling with him, were immediately available.
