NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

Atlanta, GA, May 31, 2024: Governor Brian Kemp has announced the appointment of Dr. Narasimhulu Neelagaru from Dekalb County to the Georgia Student Finance Commission Board of Commissioners. Dr. Neelagaru will serve as the Fifth Congressional District Representative until April 1, 2029.

Dr. Neelagaru is an eminent cardiologist and a successful banker, businessman, and philanthropist. He is the founding chairman of the Atlanta-based Quantum National Bank. In 2016, he was voted the Best Physician of Jackson County, and in 2018, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Jackson County Area Chamber of Commerce.

An alumnus of Harvard Business School, Dr. Neelagaru completed the Owner-President Management program in 2008.

Dr. Neelagaru is taking over from David Perez, who previously held the position. Perez now serves as the 6th Congressional District Representative. This change is a result of the Georgia House of Representatives redistricting act, which was adopted on December 8, 2023.

The Georgia Student Finance Commission Board of Commissioners oversees financial aid programs for students in the state. Dr. Neelagaru’s appointment is expected to help continue the commission’s mission of supporting students in achieving their educational goals.

Governor Kemp expressed confidence in Dr. Neelagaru’s ability to serve effectively in his new role. The community looks forward to seeing the positive impact of his contributions over the coming years.
