The Digital Entertainment Group (DEG) has announced the recipients of its 2025 Hedy Lamarr Awards, honoring women for exceptional contributions to entertainment technology. This year’s Innovation Award will go to Shobana Radhakrishnan, Senior Director of Engineering at Google TV.
Radhakrishnan is being recognized for her leadership in integrating artificial intelligence into Google TV’s operating system, enabling more personalized content recommendations and enhanced user experiences for millions of viewers worldwide. With over two decades of experience in technology, she has previously held leadership roles at Roku, Netflix, and Yahoo, contributing to large-scale content discovery and streaming innovations.
“DEG is proud to present the Hedy Lamarr Innovation Award for 2025 to Shobana Radhakrishnan of Google for her pioneering work with AI to provide consumers a state-of-the-art experience with personalized recommendations in the Google TV OS,” said DEG President & CEO Amy Jo Smith. “In this year of explosive AI innovation, we honor her track record of important, practical and responsible use of the technology.”
Two additional honorees were announced: Wendy Aylsworth, CEO and CTO of Walden Pond, will receive the Hedy Lamarr Inspiration Award for her influence and mentorship in the field, while Shantelle Subkhanberdina, an undergraduate at the University of Michigan, will be honored with the Hedy Lamarr Achievement Award for Emerging Leaders in Entertainment Technology.
The awards ceremony will be held later this year in Los Angeles during DEG’s annual membership meeting.
The Hedy Lamarr Awards, named after the Austrian-American actress and inventor whose frequency-hopping innovations laid the groundwork for modern wireless communications, were created to highlight women’s achievements in entertainment technology and inspire future generations to pursue careers in the industry.
