Georgia to Get Its First-Ever Cricket Stadium, Just an Hour from Atlanta

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

LaGrange, GA, October 1, 2025: Cricket fans across Georgia have reason to cheer. The state’s first-ever professional cricket stadium — and only the fourth dedicated cricket facility in the United States — is set to rise in LaGrange, just 45 minutes southwest of Atlanta. The 10,500-seat venue will be part of a new 45-acre sports and entertainment complex within Selig Enterprises’ Sola development, home to Great Wolf Lodge.

The project is being spearheaded by DAS Cricket Academy in partnership with the founders of NJ Blackcaps, a professional cricket organization based in New Jersey. Once completed, the LaGrange stadium will also become the first privately owned cricket stadium in the U.S., positioning Georgia as a future hub for domestic and international matches.

According to developers, groundbreaking is scheduled for later this fall, with the stadium expected to open in early 2027. Plans include a FIFA-regulated soccer field, an on-site hotel, and a sports-themed restaurant and entertainment area, making the complex a year-round destination for sporting events and community gatherings.

“This is not just about cricket—it’s about creating a world-class sports experience that unites people from across cultures,” said one of the project’s backers in a recent announcement.

Fourth of Its Kind in the U.S.

The new stadium joins an exclusive list of professional cricket venues in America:

  1. Central Broward Park & Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida — a 20,000-seat venue that hosted T20 International and World Cup matches.
  2. Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas — a converted baseball park now home to Major League Cricket (MLC), with capacity expandable to 15,000.
  3. Moosa (Smart Choice) Stadium in Pearland, Texas — granted ICC One Day International (ODI) status in 2022.

The temporary Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, which hosted several 2024 ICC T20 World Cup matches, was dismantled after the tournament, leaving the U.S. with only three permanent cricket venues until now.

Boost for Georgia’s Growing Cricket Community

For metro Atlanta’s thriving South Asian and Caribbean diaspora, the LaGrange stadium is being seen as a landmark investment in community and culture. Atlanta’s youth academies and local leagues have seen exponential growth in recent years, reflecting cricket’s surge in popularity nationwide following Major League Cricket’s debut in 2023.

Local economic analysts also expect a tourism boost. International tournaments and league matches at LaGrange could bring in thousands of visitors, benefiting hotels, restaurants, and nearby attractions. “A facility of this scale could transform Georgia into a major cricketing destination,” said a sports development official.

While exact design renderings and financial details are still under wraps, the project’s multi-use concept — blending cricket, soccer, hospitality, and recreation — is aimed at making it a flagship for sports-driven community development.

A New Chapter for U.S. Cricket

As the U.S. prepares for more global cricket tournaments and the expansion of domestic leagues, the LaGrange project signals growing investor confidence in the sport’s future. When complete, the stadium will give Georgia a front-row seat in America’s fast-evolving cricket story — and offer a new home for the thousands of players and fans who have long dreamed of seeing the sport thrive in the South.
