11 Indian Truck Drivers Arrested in Yuma Sector

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

Yuma, AZ, March 25, 2026: Agents with the U.S. Border Patrol in the Yuma Sector arrested 11 Indian national semi-truck drivers in February who were found to be in the United States illegally, according to an official statement released by the agency.

Authorities said the individuals were operating commercial semi-trucks at the time of their apprehension. The drivers were in possession of commercial driver’s licenses issued by multiple states, including Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and California.

The U.S. Border Patrol said the arrests were part of ongoing enforcement efforts in the Yuma Sector, which covers parts of southwestern Arizona along the U.S.-Mexico border. The agency reiterated its commitment to enforcing immigration laws and maintaining border security.

Recent arrests of Indian national truck drivers by the U.S. Border Patrol come against the backdrop of growing national scrutiny over immigration status, licensing practices, and safety compliance within the commercial trucking industry. The issue gained widespread attention following a series of fatal crashes in 2025, including a high-profile incident on a Florida highway in which an Indian national driver, allegedly in the country illegally, was involved in a collision that killed three people. Investigators in that case raised concerns about the driver’s ability to read road signs and understand English, prompting renewed debate over enforcement of federal language and licensing requirements for commercial drivers.
