If I Were a Bird

BY RAHUL KUMBLE

Age 8, Class 3B, Indian School Sohar, Sultanate of Oman

If I were a bird,
I would fly around the world,
To choose the best forest and tree,
And when I find it,
I would build a nest to rest.

Then I would go in search of food,
And then go to the river to have a drink,
And start singing to make all the other birds sit near me,
For I often feel lonely.

I would enjoy the fruits, nuts, and worms for it is my favourite food,
And I love to drink the clean water of the river,
And when I have had my fill,
I fly to my cozy nest so that I can lay down
And have a good nights rest..
