Flowing Tunics & Palazzos

BY RANI SHARMA

This month, we focus on the latest arrival on the summer fashion scene. Flowing ankle length tunics (around 52-inches long) in airy georgettes, chiffons, kora or super net worn over parallel palazzo pants.

Style 1: Four different patterned off white or pastel colored chiffon chikan materials are stitched together in alternating panels. This sleeveless outfit has a yoke that is of bright banarasi material and long side slits. The tunic border has a 3-inch glitter followed by a 4-inch kathan embellishment. The palazzos have six-inches of lace at the bottom. The accompanying dupatta is of chiffon or silk.

Style 2: The same concept can be created in black to stunning effect. The three panels on the tunic create an impression- with a bold zebra print, a dotted material and one brasso shimmer material. The border has an antique finish with multi-stripes.

Style 3: This bell sleeved flowing polka dotted creation has a wide center panel styled out of sequence sheet in the color of the dots. The border is of maroon embroidered piping tape. Attention is drawn to the velvet flowers on the center panel. This style usually needs seven yards of fabric. Pair with maroon pants.

Style 4: Electric blue dress in pure chiffon with bell sleeves and a heavy tie & die dupatta with antique finish. The dupatta has a 6-inch wide gote border (made out of chikan material). This dress is suitable for parties and functions.

Style 5: Another stunning creation in off white or summer colors. The yoke is 10-inches long and is fashioned out of antique sequence. The tunic is put together with 10 panels that alternate between white on white self embroidered material, white on white sequins, resham and subtle embroidery, white on white sheeting etc. The border has a piping in kora fabric in a bright color like turquoise with antique shimmer that match the yoke. This is followed with a white banarasi border. The straight cut pants are stitched out of embossed kora silk. The dupatta is of chanderi net in subtle colors like pink and has a border that matches the suit. Crystal hangings on all four sides complete the dupatta.

Jewelry: Long earrings in studded with crystals, stones or beads.

Make-up: Light make-up, bright eye shadows.

Accessories: Pointed high heels in silver, antique or gold. Big branded purse.
