A delightful new trend this summer is the fusion of traditional sari with a contrasting, contemporary border with heavy work. The border is often as much as 16-inches in width. The possibilities are endless, but here we feature five such saris.
1. Solid crepe sari with a heavy border with layers of kathan silk, embroidered velvet and gota work. Pair with sleeveless blouse in pure silk, or chiffon full sleeves blouse. The blouse is made up of panels with different materials.
2. Chiffon lehnga sari. The border has velvet patch work, shimmer material in 8-inch squares and brocade 2-inches wide. Pair with a princess cut blouse.
3. Tissue metallic gold sari with velvet border with heavy zardozi work and sequins. Pair with a sweet heart neck blouse with a brooch at the back.
4. Half and half sari- the sari is half kathan silk and half georgette or net or shimmer. The border is of velvet in a contrasting color.
5. Weaved banarasi with gold design border. Pair with a blouse in a contrasting color.
Make-up: Pink shades and frosted lipstick are in this summer. Knot your hair up in an up-do.
Jewelry: Go for antique jewelry in colors that match the sari. Pair with a gotli (a cross between gutchi and potli) purse.
Shoes: Pointed heels with nice embroidery in gold, silver or antique.
