The Look of Her Majesty, Queen Rania of Jordan

Her unrivaled beauty and sense of style, crowns her as the most beautiful woman in the world in CHRISTINE PHILIP’S book.

Born Rania Al-Yasin, Queen Rania stands before the international realm today as the world’s youngest presiding queen. She is not only stylish, beautiful and highly intelligent, but also has earned a reputation as a great humanitarian, which, when coupled with her unrivaled beauty and sense of style, crowns her as the most beautiful woman in the world in my book.

Fashion is often a byproduct of adversity – a concept which Queen Rania is no stranger to. Unlike other royals, Queen Rania was not born into the royal life. Prior to marrying Prince Abdullah Bin Al-Hussein in 1993, she earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration, became fluent in both Arabic and English, and started a promising career at a large bank. Queen Rania was never even intended to become a Queen – when King Hussein was diagnosed with cancer in 1999, he changed the royal succession by naming Queen Rania’s husband, Prince Al-Hussein, as his heir (replacing King Hussein’s younger brother who had been the crown prince). Following his untimely death, Queen Rania stood at the forefront of a broken country, finding herself in the precarious position of having to address national concerns as the country’s maternal figurehead. Nevertheless, Queen Rania met the challenge with open arms and has initiated successful programs to combat child abuse and promote women’s rights in the conservative Muslim world. She is both a symbolic and executive leader for Jordan, devoting herself as a public servant, mother, wife, role model, and peacekeeper – but she still finds time to look good.

Her beauty, humanitarianism, popularity, and immense fashion sense have drawn comparisons to the late Princess Diana, but Queen Rania has a distinct sense of style.

She is a veritable who’s who in international fashion realms, having been named among Vogue magazine’s “Best Dressed in the World”, in People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful, appeared on Oprah, and has graced the covers of such publication powerhouses like Time, and Newsweek. Her fashion style can be summed up as modest, yet superbly modern. Most notably, although she remains deeply religious in her faith, Queen Rania chooses not to wear the veil that typically covers the face of a Muslim woman in her country. It has been said that her fashion sense has irritated the conservative Jordan base (just like her political and social activism), yet Queen Rania remains steadfast in what she chooses to wear and the manner in which she carries herself.

As an accomplished business executive, mother, diplomat, humanitarian, and public servant, Queen Rania is poised, glamorous, and, simply put, the epitome of a royal. Her numerous accomplishments – at such a young age – in the face of tremendous adversity, when coupled with her ability to maintain a high level of personal and glamorous style, tabs her as the world’s most beautiful woman. Bottom line, she would be numero uno on my list of celebrities to dress.
