Sewa International Celebrates Rang Barse

Sewa International, a Hindu charitable organization, celebrated Rang Barse "Holi Dhamaka, a FREE event, at Pinckneyville Park, Gwinett county, on 25th March, 2006 (Saturday), between 12pm to 4pm for the benefit of the Hindu community in the greater Atlanta area.

This was the first community event for year 2006. The event was well attended by youngsters and families alike. The playground in the park was a major attraction for couples with young kids & parking was freely available. DJ Khalnayak a.k.a Shyam Bhrambhatt played irresistably popular numbers like ..Do me a favor, lets play holi.., ..Rang Barse, Bheeege Chunarwali.., ..Khaike Paan Banaras Wala.. and crowd just loved them and danced with joy. Only dry & washable colors were used for the benefit of everyone..

The day was bright and sunny and in spite of a little chilly weather, between 250 to 300 people came out to Pincneyville park to enjoy FREE Holi event. Food was donated from various restaurants like Palace, Mirch Masala, Sai Chat, Krishna Vilas, Minerva. To add mood & flavor to the occasion, Thandai was freely distributed on the spot to everyone, which was freshly prepared by VHP-Atlanta.

Everyone appreciated the charitable and organizing spirit of Sewa International, VHP-Atlanta ( http://vhp-america.com/atlanta
) & Ekal Vidyalaya ( http://www.ekal.org ) for putting together a first time community event. Looking at the success of the event and the turnabout of people, SEWA plans to make this an annual event to garner the participation of the young crowd of Greater Atlanta. Even the park administration were very appreciative of the way the colors were cleaned up.

Engendering the philanthropic spirit, Sewa International has been doing humanitarian projects in the Atlanta area. In year 2005, various charitable activities were organizing covering Health fairs for mexican community, Katrina & Rita hurricane relief & rehabilitation for affected families in Texas and Georgia, Diwali festival & Kids Games, FREE Garba Raas. We will carry on the philanthropic spirit with more activities.
