BY RAVI R PONANGI The 2005 IACA annual beauty pageant was held on Sunday, July 24, at the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center. It was indeed a show of beauty, talent and skill. There were two categories – one for teens and the other for 20 years and above. Nikhat Nazarali was crowned Miss India Georgia while Parachi Bharadwaj bagged the Miss Teen India Georgia title. Sloka Bhattija was first runner-up in the Miss India Georgia segment. Bianca Ramchandani and Ezraah Gilani were first and second runner-up in Miss Teen India Georgia segment. Ezraah Giliani, Bianca Ramchandani and Nikhat Nazarali also bagged Miss Photogenic, Miss Beautiful Smile and Miss Talent titles respectively. Soumya Dave bagged the Miss Congenial nd Nisha Amin bagged the Miss Personality title.
There were 19 participants in all – seven for Miss Teen and 12 for Miss India Georgia segment. Eleven judges - - five for teens and six for Miss India Georgia segment. – chose winners from both the groups. Comparing to early years, there is a significant drop in the number of contestants. Lakshmi Rao, coordinator of the beauty pageant told this reporter that IACA beauty pageant was different from other beauty contests organized elsewhere. There were no body measurements; no swim suit shows or wild display of costumes and cosmetics. Instead, there was an opportunity to display one’s talents on the stage.
