First Ever Bollywood Music Awards in Trinidad
Presidents, Prime Ministers, Attorney Generals, Miss World and a host of dignitaries participate.

History was created on Dec 3rd in Port of Spain, Trinidad when the long awaited and the truly international Bollywood Music Awards became a reality with the outpouring of Trinidad’s love for Bollywood combined with emotions and nostalgia of the highest order.

A packed-to-the-rafters audience went into raptures as the Bollywood Music Awards 2005 for outstanding achievements and performances reeled out top Bollywood singing sensations and pop-stars and glittering performances at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad on December 3, 2005.

The musical extravaganza drew thousands of people from all over the Caribbean, U.S. and Canada, where the audience could see a host of their favorite stars in flesh and blood, as well as enjoy live performances. 

Mr. Dandona, Chairman and CEO of the Bollywood Group, said, ”It is truly a distinct honor for my group to be part of the history that has been created today. 

Trinidadians, carry and promote our culture, values and tradition in the most meaningful manner. Their love for India’s culture is visible by the spectacular success of today’s event. I am highly impressed by Mr. Tony Maharaj and C.L. Financial who did a job, par excellence, in terms of management, promotion, coordination and execution. Trinidad is undoubtedly one of the best venues for an event of this magnitude and scale.”

The warm and vibrant cultural link between India and Trinidad & Tobago was further endorsed by the presence for the former Prime Minister and now the leader of the opposition Mr. Basdeo Panday and his lovely wife Oma, Indian High commissioner Mr.J.S.Sapra, San Fernando West MP Diane Seukeran, Former Minister of Works and Transport Franklin Khan and his wife, Minister of Culture Joan Yuell Williams, President of the Senate and Acting President of T&T Linda Babolal, Former Miss World Giselle La Ronde West, Ramesh Maharaj, former attorney general of T&T, Former President Mr. Hassanali and Lady Hassanali, Radhika Seth-Chairman of the Tourism Board of T& T and many many more. 

Mr. Tony Maharaj of C.L. Financial stated that, “I am most thrilled that our company was behind an event that brought together talents from all over the globe including USA, Canada, UK, India, Pakistan and the Caribbean, in particular.” 

The Master of Ceremonies was the popular and stunningly beautiful Kiran Maharaj who kept the audience enthralled and engaged throughout the event.

Ravi Bissembar of the band Karma opened the evening with a breathtaking performance of the hit song”Mangalam Ganesham”. Popular Caribbean artist Indar Kanhai and the local Shiv Shakti dancers gave the event a powerful Indo-Caribbean flavor. Hot international pop star Raghav performed his top-of-the-charts hits: “Angel Eyes” and “Can’t Get Enough.” Remix King Harry Anand had the audience on their feet with his chart-busters. Kumar Sanu mesmerized the audience by singing to a medley of his hit songs. The young and charming Babu Supriyo was up next to shake up the audience with his mind-blowing performance. Udit Narayan had the women swooning with his romantic numbers. Anuradha Sriram, performed for the first time in the Caribbean, and the crowd went wild. The dazzling performance by Jaspinder Narula, who entertained the audience with several upbeat numbers. Kavita Krishnamurthy, the queen of Bollywood, took listeners through a musical journey by singing a medley of her most popular songs. Pakistani singer Amir Jamal of the “Kaho Na Kaho” fame rocked the stage with his electrifying performance.

The event, a historic one in the history of Trinidad and India, left thousands with warm memories of a magical evening.
