The first fundraising event of 2005 to benefit Asha for Education- an action group for basic education in India, will be held on January 15th at the Georgia Tech Student Center. Mrs Sanghamitra Chakrabarti, foremost student of acclaimed singer Rageshwar Bhattacharya, will enthral Atlantans with the songs of India’s legendary poet and Nobel Laureate - Rabindranath Tagore.

The concert will begin at 6:45pm and last for over 2 hours. The event is open to the public and all proceeds will benefit literacy related projects for the underprivileged in India. Chakrabarti will be accompanied by Amitava Sen on Violin, Tirthankar Dasgupta on Tabla and Shah Alam Khokan on Keyboard. Tickets are $10.00.

“We are very excited to have Mrs. Chakrabarti in Atlanta," said Sathyan Subbiah, Asha-Atlanta volunteer who is coordinating the concert. “The support from the community for Asha's grassroots development work in India, has been great, and it is wonderful to be able to reach out to various communities in Atlanta through such fundraisers”
