Cricket for India ’04 Tournament In October

The Association for India’s Development (A.I.D.) and the Atlanta Cricket Club will be hosting “Cricket for India ’04”. The tournament, now in its third year, will be conducted on the 23rd and 30th of October 2004 at the Georgia Tech SAC Field.

This tournament is the largest fund-raiser for the Atlanta Chapter of A.I.D., an organization that supports community-based grassroots development projects in India. Please visit www.aidindia.org/atlanta for more information on A.I.D. Atlanta.

“Cricket for India ’03” event was a runaway success with participation from thirty-two teams. Participants and onlookers alike were excited in contributing to a cause that helps the most vulnerable communities in India. The event was also a big hit with the families of the participants-children and grown ups participated in a folksy, desi mela!

This year, the tournament will begin at 8:30am on both days with the final game expected to be at 3pm on Sunday, October 30th. The umpiring, score-keeping, and other statistics will be handled by Nandu Vaid and his team of experts from the Atlanta Cricket Club. The volunteers from A.I.D. will complement this effort by taking care of the administrative aspects of the tournament. Refreshments will be available for sale from local restaurants.

All funds collected in this tournament will support several projects that AID-Atlanta is involved in currently, described in detail at the website: http://www.aidindia.org/atlanta/projects.shtml.

Please contact Srini at 678-467-2654 (C) or write to atlanta@aidindia.org for more information about the event.
