The Atlanta Vedic Temple organized a Mahayajna at its premises recently. Those present collectively prayed on 36 fire pits (Hawan Kunds) to Almighty God for blessings for the well-being of all including the self – physically, socially and spiritually leading to peace and prosperity for all and harmony amongst all.
Temple president Dhirendra Sharma welcomed the gathering of devotees, praising their resolve to be part of the noble cause of peace and prosperity through the mahayajna.
The panel of speakers included Dr. Devbala of New York, who addressed the congregation, and presented the aim and motto of life to serve the society in which we live. He urged the gathering to use the present life period for achieving righteous goals, which are Dharma, Artha, Kama & Moksha. The righteous life brings true peace and prosperity to a person, who can then disseminate it to rest in the society and the world, he said.
Dr. Hariprasad presented ShivSankalpmastu mantras musically, devotionally, practically and he highlighted the basic theme to uplift the self to uplift societ. Acharya Vedshrami spoke on the prosperity of nation. He urged the society in positive thinking of togetherness, unity, support, security and prosperity by acquiring all resources.
The physical Yog/Aasans of Acharya Vedshrami were worth paying serious attention to for the benefit one can attain from them to be healthy, and to enjoy the fruits of labor of this life.
One of the highlights of the Mahayagnya was the presentation by Arya Veer Dal, the youth group of the temple. Anup Chandora, laid-out of the achievements of the group and discussed the roadmap for the Arya Veer Dal. One of the youngest members of the group, Havishkrit then enraptured the audience with his emotional and impressive talk addressed to today’s youth and reminded them the challenges in the current society were the same at the time of Swami Dayanand Saraswati and it was our individual approach changed that can positively impact the society, through sacrifices for the society by selfless work. The Arya Veer Dal members then presented the Hymns of Harmony (Sangathan Mantra) and the beautiful bhajan – ‘Itni Shakti Hamein Dena Daata’ – that truly touched everybody’s hearts. The section concluded with a contemporary presentation in question and answer format on the relevance of Vedic Teachings in today’s life by Rishi and Rohan Bagga.
Amitabh Sharma spoke about the need for the expansion of the current complex and the various sections of the community that would be impacted. Dr .Ramesh Reddy, who was the key note speaker shared his beliefs on how to achieve calmness of turbulent mind was a reminder how we can implement in daily life to progress and improve our selves in day to day interaction.
Atlanta Vedic Temple has a tradition of recognizing its selfless volunteers for their contributions every year. The winners this year were Dr. Madhusudan for his commitment to furthering the knowledge of the Vedic Dharma, Johan Singh for his selfless and dedicated service to the temple and Rishi Bagga won the coveted Youth Leadership Award for all round leadership to the Arya Veer Dal.
