Shaveta Jain Crowned Mrs. India International 2012

Shaveta Jain of Suwanee, GA, USA had her moment of crowning glory, winning the title of Mrs. India International 2012. She will be representing India at the International Pageant in Chicago in July 2012. The contest was held at the prestigious 14th Street Playhouse of Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta on May 25th 2012. 

Jain who interviewed with NRI Pulse before the contest is elated to be India’s ambassador and feels honored to represent India at the Mrs. International Pageant 2012.



Reet Sahu, of Hyderabad, India was declared the first runner up and Shivani Diwan, of Stamford, CT, USA was declared the joint second runner up with Udeeta Tyagi of Ghaziabad, India (forfeited due to disqualification) after two days of scoring rounds of Interview, Fitness Wear, Ethnic Wear and Evening Gown, judged by a competent panel of judges. Udeeta Tyagi was disqualified per the rules and regulations of the pageant and therefore automatically forfeited the second runner up position as well as Mrs. Congeniality segment winner position. 

Richa Sharma, Mrs. India International 2011 and Adrita Khanna, Director of the Mrs. India International 2012 Pageant and Mrs. India International 2008, crowned the new Mrs. India International 2012 after culmination of an entertaining evening where the top twelve finalists competed for the coveted crown. The guests, an involved and encouraging crowd, enjoyed the finals which also included some spirited Indian songs and a fashion show. 

Emcee for the evening, Jyoti Mahajan, Mrs. India International 2010 along with Fazleen Sohani kept the audience enthralled and engaged. 

The show was broadcasted live in partnership with DesiWebShow. This enabled friends and family of the finalists to watch the performance live from web enabled devices around the world. 

The finals show was graced by Honorable Ajit Kumar, the Consul General of India in Atlanta, who was the chief guest. Consul General Kumar crowned the city crown winners, selected during the pageant year 2012: 
Dipannita Bhatia- Mrs. India – Kolkata International 2012, Jharna Madan - Mrs. India – Nashua International 2012 , Pooja Jain - Mrs. India – Bhopal International 2012 , Priya Srikant- Mrs. India – Chennai International 2012 , Reet Sahu - Mrs. India – Hyderabad International 2012, Shaveta Jain- Mrs. India – New Delhi International 2012 , Sandhya (Sandy) Dwyer- Mrs. India – Troy International 2012, Afroz Khan – Mrs. India – Raipur International 2012 could not attend the event. 

Pooja Jain, won the Mrs. People’s Choice award by grossing the maximum online votes. Anamika Prasad was chosen as Mrs. Beautiful Smile, Udeeta Tyagi won the Mrs. Congeniality (forfeited due to disqualification), Reet Sahu won the Mrs. Ramp Walk, Dipannita Bhatia won the Mrs. Photogenic award. Mr Shamsuddin Lalani, President & CEO of Shamroz Enterprises Inc (Desi Express Magazine) crowned the winners of these segments. 

The other finalists at the event were Reetu Rastogi of NJ, USA 

At a Press Conference prior to the show, the contestants spoke to the media about their background and expressed their sincere appreciation for organizers of the show. Grant Arrington, one of the Judges who was also at the conference said he looks for what he described as a ‘complete package’ in contestants when he makes his selection. Richa Sharma and Adrita Khanna also present at the event offered encouragement and support to all contestants. Ejaz Naqvi, Chief Event Organizer thanked all sponsors and Adrita Khanna thanked her husband Vinay for his continued support. Vinay spoke about supporting less fortunate children, a cause he and Adrita strongly believe in.

The women of Mrs. India International are married women between the ages of 21 and 56 and originate from India, even though they can be residing anywhere in the world. Adrita Khanna, was appointed Director Mrs. India International by Mrs. Mary Richardson, who is the Executive Director of the Mrs. International Pageant which enters the 25th year of competition. The Mrs. International Pageant system is recognized for its integrity, standards, utmost fairness and consistent application of its rules and regulations. Mrs. India International promotes the family values of respect, compassion, honesty and tolerance. Adrita Khanna wants to provide a global platform for showcasing the achievements of international married Indian women and has a dream of building a home in the USA for the less fortunate children.
