Bollywood Music Composers /Singers and brothers Salim Sulaiman have embarked upon a new journey, a live concert tour to North America. On Saturday March 3, 2012, this dynamic duo, accompanied by the talented Benny Dayal, Shraddha Pandit and Shadab Faridi and a team of 15 Bollywood musicians and an orchestra of eight American musicians performed at the Fabulous FOX Theater in Atlanta.

The concert was brought to Atlanta by national promoter Ramji Entertainment LLC, under its President Saahir Ramji, and Atlanta’s Salmaan Ajani and Malik Charania, of Ultimat8 Entertainment LLC.

At a press conference held before the concert, the brothers and their team were in high spirits and raring to go, for more reasons than one - Salim’s special day, his birthday happened to coincide with the date the their performance and the press meet. Spirited and spiritual, the brothers were indeed a surprise package to the crowd. As excited as they were to perform live, they also wanted to create and share a piece of their world with their audience.

“Our lives revolve around music. It lets us breathe and go on and on,” they said. They also talked about the projects in the pipeline “Heroine”, “Rabba Main Kya Karu”, and an untitled Dharma Productions venture. The Birthday boy Salim introduced each and every member of the orchestra and the musicians.

“We felt the energy and the love as we walked in. It is very encouraging and we appreciate all your love and we really hope we can give you something back this evening” he exclaimed to the audience.

When NRI Pulse asked him about a possible acting career, which would be a natural progression, given the huge fan, mostly female following they have, Salim offered to answer. “Music is a difficult thing to do. Music is God sent, it is spiritual, far beyond acting, really. You cannot compare the two. People who are blessed with music are touched by God. And I’m not saying acting is not an art form but music is very special and I feel very privileged and blessed to have music in my life.” A true musician indeed!

Owing to a lot of pressure from the audience Benny Dayal, Shraddha Pandit and Shadab Faridi gave in and sang a couple of lines from popular compositions such as ‘Aadat Se Majboor’ and ‘Bipasha’ for the press.

Mustafa Ajmeri who convened the press meet, invited Shiv Aggarwal of Global Mall to address the guests. Aggarwal welcomed Salim Sulaiman and the team to Global Mall and Atlanta. He lauded Salim for introducing his entire team. “You used the word God many times in your speech today. That is the reason behind your success. Keep believing in him always and welcome to Global Mall and Atlanta” Shiv Aggarwal added.

The names Salim and Sulaima, synonymous with the vibrant Indian music scene are among the most sought after music directors in India today. Some of their hits include music from the recent Ladies vs Ricky Bahl (2011), Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year (2009), Kurbaan (2009), Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) among others.

Their careers started with composing music for commercials as they worked their way through composing the background scores for a number of movies. Their first break came when Karan Johar asked them to compose the music for his movie “Kaal,” and then there was no looking back. The duo went on to compose music for industry icons such as Yash Chopra, Subhash Ghai and Ram Gopal Verma.

They lent their mark on the international music scene when they composed for the 2010 FIFA World Cup anthem in South Africa in collaboration with the South African singer Loyiso Bala and the Kenyan singer Eric Wainaina. Besides the anthem the brothers also sang their soulful number “Shukran Allah” from Kurbaan, alongside Shakira at the World Cup festivities. They have also worked on a remix version of Lady Gaga’s Born this Way and Judas. • Nominated for the prestigious Day Time Emmy Awards in the category of Outstanding Original Song – Children & Animation for the Song 'We like being small' for the Series Wonder Pets on Nickelodeon channel in 2009.

The Concert:
The concert at the Fox Theatre included a medley of renditions from the composer duo's hit films including Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Kurbanand Chak De India etc. But what got the audience off their feet and dancing n the aisles and in front of the stage was Ainvayi Ainvayi from Band Baaja Baaraat and the title song from Aaja Nachle.

An innovative concept was the fashion show choreographed sequence by Sushma Patel during the rendition of numbers from the movie Fashion. A tweener decked out in traditional Indian garb was definitely the scene stealer as she sashayed onto the stage and completed her walk with flair comparable to the more seasoned models.

Salim opened the show and continued to sing a number of his popular renditions. The second last song was the first he ever sang in a movie...Ali Maula from Kurbaan. His superb performance with able accompaniment from Shahdab Faridi and Benny Dayal definitely was the high-note of the evening. The concert ended with nationalistic sentiments running high as the performers sang the title song from ChakDe India accompanied by a video clip of India's sports achievements.

Although all other songs presented were composed by Salim-Sulaiman, the duo let Benny Dayal sing the song "Tu Hi Toh Meri Dost Hai" composed for the movie Yuvraj by A.R. Rehman

The entire concert was punctuated with cries of "Happy Birthday Salim, we love you” from the crowd for the composer- singer who was celebrating his birthday.
