Richa Sharma of Kolkata, India has been crowned the Mrs. India International 2011 in the pageant finals on 28th May 2011 at the prestigious 14th Street Playhouse of Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta, USA in a well contested finale. She will go on to represent India in the national pageant in Chicago in July
2011. Richa is elated to be Indias ambassador and feels honored to represent India at the Mrs. International Pageant.
Karli Bose, Charlotte, North Carolina was declared the first runners up and Akshita Jain, San Jose, California was declared the second runner up after two days of fair and close competition overseen by a competent panel of judges.
Mrs. Jyoti Mahajan, Mrs. India International 2010 and Mrs. Adrita Khanna, Director of the Mrs. India International 2011 Pageant and Mrs. India International 2008, crowned the new Mrs. India International after culmination of an entertaining evening where the top ten finalists competed for the coveted crown.
The guests, a small but involved and encouraging crowd, enjoyed the finals
which also included some spirited Indian cultural dances and a fashion show.
Khanna herself was the Master of the Ceremony and was assisted by Mary and Caroline during the finals. The show was broadcasted live in partnership with YuppTV. The friends and family of the finalists were able to watch the performance live from any web enabled device all around the world.
The City Crown winners, selected during the pageant year 2011 were also crowned at the show:
Akshita Jain- Mrs. India San Jose International 2011
Deepali Phadnis- Mrs. India Chennai International 2011
Richa Sharma- Mrs. India Kolkata International 2011
Sandhya (Sandy) Dwyer- Mrs. India Troy International 2011
Karli Bose Mrs. India Charlotte International 2011 could not be crowned at the event due to vendor issues and will be crowned at a later date.
The other finalists at the event were Mrs. Bipasha Bhattacharya of Orlando, FL, USA and Mrs. Dimple Kriplani of Grayson, GA, USA. Mrs. Sheetal Gupta a finalists from China, could not attend the event in person.
The women of Mrs. India International are married women between the ages of 21 and 56 and originate from India, even though they can be residing anywhere in the world. Adrita Khanna, was appointed Director Mrs. India International by Mrs. Mary Richardson, who is the executive director of the Mrs. International Pageant which enters the 24th year of competition. The Mrs. International Pageant system is recognized for its integrity, standards, utmost fairness and consistent application of its rules and regulations.
Mrs. India International promotes the family values of respect, compassion, honesty and tolerance. She wants to provide a global platform for showcasing the achievements of international married Indian women.
