Nrupathunga Kannada
Koota of Atlanta, Georgia is stepping into its 35th year of
commencement. The celebrations of this momentous occasion
will be held on 20th September 2008, Saturday from 9am to 9
pm, at Southern Polytechnic state University, Marietta,
Georgia.
For its 35th anniversary event, NKK, a tax-exempt cultural
association and epicenter of Kannada community in Atlanta,
in its attempt to promote the language, culture, arts and
its heritage has organized various Group songs, dances,
classical music and dramas with nearly 80 children and large
number of families in active participation. Artists from
Karnataka are also invited to the program. Nearly 500 people
are expected to attend the event. Along with entertainment,
NKK has also arranged for Lunch and Dinner.
The souvenir "Chiguru" which will be released as part of the
festivities will surely entertain you with stories from
local writers and eminent authors from Karnataka.
NKK has its own library, website (www.atlantakannada.org)
and also conducts classes to teach Kannada language. It has
established a scholarship fund donated by Drs. Subrahmanya
and Annapurna Bhat. A sum of $4000 was awarded, last year,
to a graduating high school senior. This amount will be
presented every year during the Rajyothsava day, in
November. NKK does many charitable donations also both in
USA and in Karnataka State, India.
