Dr.Indran Indrakrishnan Felicitated At State Capitol

Well known and respected Gastroenterologist from Duluth , and a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine, Dr.Indran Indrakrishnan, was honored at the imposing Georgia State Capitol on August 24, 2011.
Dr.Indrakrishnan was bestowed with the prestigious and well-deserved honor both in the House of Representatives and in the Senate for providing distinct medical care for the members of the General Assembly and to the community of Georgia.
Dr. Indrakrishnan was introduced to the House of Representatives by Rep. Howard Maxwell, chairman of retirement committee, who told the house that Dr Indrankrishnan has won many distinguished awards from national and international scientific organizations and has published many clinical and basic science research articles in peer review journals. He elaborated Dr Indrakrishnan’s community service beyond medicine by actively serving on the boards of Fight Colorectal Cancer, a national nonprofit patient advocacy organization for colorectal cancer patients, and Third Eye Dancers – another nonprofit organization in Georgia which works to communicate & to bring awareness on social issues affecting children and to raise funds for charity through dance.
Georgia State Senator David Shafer made the introduction to the senate and explained that Dr. Indrakrishnan, besides his excellent patients care, has been serving in numerous committees- American College of Physicians, American College of Gastroenterology, Royal college of Physicians of London and the Medical Association of Georgia. He further stated that Dr Indrakrishnan participates in the examination board activities for American Board of Gastroenterology and Royal College of Physicians of London, England and is also on the board of directors and a past president of Georgia Gastroenterological and Endoscopic Society. In addition, he noted that Dr. Indrakrishnan is a peer reviewer for the Georgia Composite State Board of Medical Examiners and has served in the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, evaluating the Ambulatory Surgical Centers for accreditation across the country.
Dr. Indrakrishnan thanked the legislators for their dedicated service and hard work in keeping Georgia safe and economically wise even though they are under appreciated and underpaid. Lt. Governor Casey Cagle extended his commendations and appreciation to Dr. Indrakrishnan. The house speaker Hon. David Ralston wished Dr. Indrakrishnan health, happiness and many more years of service to the people of great State of Georgia. Following this, other state senators and house representatives met with Dr Indrakrishnan and thanked him for the exemplary service.
Dr. Indrakrishnan is a graduate of Medical Association of Georgia’s Physicians leadership Academy, a division which identifies and trains the physician leaders in Georgia. He is a fellow of American College of Gastroenterology, American college of Physicians, Royal College of physicians and surgeons of Canada & Royal College of Physicians of London, England He has an enviable academic track record backed up with solid medical expertise in his chosen specialty. He is imbued with compassion and philanthropy and has played an exemplary role in the community with his selfless and untiring service in the medical and also social and cultural fields. Kudos!
