Haveli Indian Cuisine, one of the oldest Indian restaurants in the Atlanta area, opened at a new location off Holcomb Bridge Road in Alpharetta earlier this year.
“Twenty-five years, and still running; still serving,” says manager Keshav Sharma, who has been with the restaurants for over 12 years. The new location offers the fine dining experience with cuisine from the plains of the north to the coasts of the south.
“We offer a 35-item lunch buffet for the same price of $8.95, all seven days a week,” says Sharma. The menu is exhaustive. The South Indian specialties include dosas of several kinds and the idli/upma options. The Andhra Special Combo includes upma, two idlis and two vadas. An upgraded version is the Haveli Special combo that includes one idli, vada, upma and a masala dosa.
The shrimp, chicken and lamb vindaloos are perfectly spiced and delectable, as are the flavorful biriyanis. Also hot on the menu is the sizzler platter: a tender tandoori assortment of chicken, fish, lamb and shrimp. The vegetarian section, enticingly named ‘Volahnav Bhojan’ includes all time favorites like the navaratan korma, saag paneer, malai kofta, paneer makhani Punjabi curry, gobi Manchurian etc.
The restaurant also offers Haveli Special dinners. The dinner for two includes soup, a platter of tandoori chicken, seekh kababs, chicken tikka masala, one vegetable, naan, rice and dessert. A lighter version of the dinner includes a platter of tandoori chicken, fish tikka, roti, veg-biriyani, daal, kachumbar and raita.
The traditional vegetarian thali includes a samosa, papad, vegetable of the day, dal, rice, naan, kachumbar and kheer.
The dessert menu- the misthan bhandar, has the best gulab jamuns, rasmalai and kheer in town. Also on the menu are a variety of cold kulfis. The restaurant also has a full bar with a range of wines, beer and more.
“We also offer catering services and live tandoor and dosa stations,” says Sharma. “Our party hall is a great place to celebrate birthdays and Diwali parties. For large gatherings, we swap the restaurant area with the party hall.”
If you’ve long heard about the Haveli in Marietta, but have never had the chance to visit, head to the new Haveli in Alpharetta this weekend.
