Appointment to Judiciary Committee

Samir Chopra was recently appointed to a coveted position of Director and Chairman of the Judiciary Committee at the South Asian Bar Association of New York. This is a very important position for the Judiciary and for all community members.

In his new roll he will Chair the powerful committee who has primary responsibility to:

-Review serious criticism of a Judges performance,
-Determine whether candidates for election are qualified to be sitting on the bench.
-Make recommendations concerning legislative issues and court rules regarding the operation, procedure, and reform of the Court.

Mr. Chopra stated, " It is his privilege and honor to work for our community in this capacity, what is more satisfying is that now Judges and court houses will see an Indian American, and hopefully understand more so we are as a people and about our rich diversity. He is also most excited for the opportunity to bring more attorneys, law students and committee members directly into the nucleus of the legislative and political process."
