The evening was presented by Enigma Productions, an entertainment
production company founded by Rennu Dhillon, the brainchild of the San Francisco India Bay Area Pageants, and her partners Dr. Jay Patel &
Shahdokth Mudakavi. Rennu is the founder & director of Genius Kids in Fremont. Dr. Jay Patel is a chiropractor with Spine Doctors in San Jose
and founder of Arch Financial. Shahdokth Mudakavi is the Director of Safari Kids, Newark.
This pageant was probably the most sophisticated competition within the
Indo-American community with state of the art online scoring system where the audience was given a sneak preview of scores after each round. “The
uniqueness of this pageant is simple – we are the only Indo-American
pageant with transparent scoring and no hidden agendas”, stated Dhillon. “This ensures that all our contestants have a fair chance at winning, an
important aspect considering all the pageants that are happening within our
community.”
The curtain opened to a spectacular opening number & sequined beaded fashions designed by Basic Instinct Fashions. The contestants in
the pageant segment first competed in a Me, Myself and I segment followed by Elegant Wear. The talent round was narrowed down to the Top 4 in each
segment followed by Top 3 who proceeded to the final question and answer segment. The Me Myself and I segment brought out the best in the
contestants where each delegate presented their communication skills using creativity and originality. In the Miss segment Rachna Dumra of Fremont sang her rendition of “Mera Dil Hai Hindustani” whilst Nikhat in the Mrs. segment choreographed a classical dance using her grace to explain how an Indian woman can balance a career with family. An elegant wear segment with stunning saris designed by Basic Instinct fashions followed. The talent segment was unique with Navi Samra enacting an original monologue of an Indian woman facing a harsh judgmental society.
Ruby Jain dramatized a scene of "Bums" by Robert Shaffron & Sarmi Karati danced to the ever so popular
'Devdas' number. However the question and answer segment was the nail bitter with thought provoking questions that required more than just the stereotype answers.
Exciting entertainment items included dances performed by Genius Kids of
Fremont, songs by upcoming Punjabi Artists SirPunj and Shana
Dhillon, and a Pop and Lock dance by Tik Tak Tix Krew. The evening was gracefully emceed by Anu Gill, Miss San Francisco India 2003, Jeremy Danker, 1st runner up Mr India Bay Area 2004 and Pooja Jain, Miss San Francisco India 2002.
An exciting final round for the Indiva Le Visage Model Search 2005 USA contest was won by Parvati Melton who won The People’s Choice award. Parvati will be sponsored to Beirut in April 2005 to represent the South Asian community of the USA for the very first time at the world modeling finals.
