Atlanta,
Dec 2012: Purbasha celebrated their second year of Kali Puja at Berkmar
High School on Saturday, November 10. Like last year, this year’s event
too was a great success. The turnout was huge with guests from North
Carolina, Tennesse and Alabama attending along with Georgia folks.
While
jewelry, sari and snack vendors caught everyone's attention, guests
were raving about the "puchhka" stall. Everybody present was enthralled
with the live dhol and dhak performances.
Decorations
and the idol were put up in an impeccable style. From Kumortulli,
standing five feet tall, goddess Kali was effulgent in scintillating
attire. The Puja began around 6.00pm and guests joined thereafter to
offer 'pushpanjali' to Maa Kali. The atmosphere was charged with the
sound of dhak, dhol and chants as devotees offered their unfeigned
prayers to the mother goddess. A sumptuous dinner, catered by Raja
restaurant in Buckhead, was served after prasad distribution. As part
of the cultural program for the evening, Purbasha was delighted to host
the famous X-Factor group "Nirmitee" from Bollywood. Their spectacular
performance mesmerized the audience till the early hours of next
morning.
