Atlanta: Padmasri Dr. Mohan Babu felicitated by Atlanta Telugu Community

The Telugu community in Atlanta had the honor of hosting former Member of Parliament- Rajya Sabha; and Telugu film industry’s famed actor, producer, educator, philanthropist & legend Dr. Mohan Babu and his son- young hero Mr. Vishnu Manchu at the luncheon cum fund-raiser event at the Sai Murali Banquet Hall in Alpharetta, GA, on November 13.

The event, which was organized by Bala Indurti, Anjaiah Chowdary Lavu, Satish Musunuri, Srini Vangimalla, Ramesh Gude, Ramesh Chaparala, Paddy Rao Atmuri, Ravi Kandimalla, Sreenivas Kotlure, Ramana Doddla, Prashant Kollipara, Venkat Chennubhotla, Ram Durvasula, Phani Dokka & Siva Gaddamanugu was attended by over 400 people ,who all kindly contributed towards the funds for the Vidyanikethan educational institutions.

Dr.Mohan Babu has acted in varied roles in his Tollywood film-career spanning over 35 years, and is known mostly for his critically acclaimed negative roles! His son Vishnu Manchu is also following in his father’s footsteps and carving his name in the film industry as an actor and producer. Dr.Mohan Babu, who is passionate about education, founded the highly reputed Vidyanikethan Educational Trust in 1992. It has an International College, Engineering, Pharmacy, Nursing; Management and post-graduation colleges attended by over 10,000 students. The Trust provides free education to 25% of these students, on a need-basis, irrespective of caste or gender. Dr.Mohan Babu is on his first trip to the US to raise funds to enable the trust to continue providing quality education at these institutions. 
The event started with Jyothiprajwalana (lamp lighting) by Dr. Mohan Babu, Manchu Vishnu, Dr. Gandhiji Yalamanchili, Dr. Mangaraju Vanapalli, Dr. Srihari Malepmpati, Komati Mohan Reddy and Bala Indurti.

After a glowing introduction by Satish Musnuru, Vishnu thanked Bala Indurti, Anjaiah Chowdary Lavu and Satish Musunuri for their commendable efforts in organizing the reception. He made a brief speech about the Vidyanikethan educational institutions, followed by an informative multimedia presentation about the great work being done by Sri Vidyanikethan Education Institutions towards the humanitarian cause of providing education to under-privileged children. 

Anjaiah Chowdary Lavu gave a brief but impressive introduction of high-profile chief guest, Dr. Mohan Babugaru. Dr. Mohan Babu garu gave a riveting and inspiring speech, narrating his life’s journey from an ordinary farming family to his rise as an acclaimed actor in the movie industry. He also talked about how he was motivated about education which goaded him into founding Sri Vidyanikethan educational institutions in 1992 which have flourished with a current enrolment of 10,000. He appealed to the community to come forward and support the Sri Vidyanikethan Educational Trust. He commended the efforts of the event organizers especially Mr. Bala Indurti in hosting the welcome luncheon cum fund-raiser.

After his speech, Dr. Mohan Babu garu at the request of the audience entertained them with dialogues from his movies.

Dr. Gandhi Yalamanchili and Bala Indurti felicitated movie-legend Dr. Mohan Babu with a memento and Anjaiah Chowdary Lavu and Satish Musunuri felicitated Manchu Vishnu with a memento. Sudhakar Rao Mususnuri, Ramesh Chaparala felicitated the guests with shawls while Srini Vangimalla, Ramesh Gude, Paddy Rao Atmuri, Ravi Kandimalla felicitated them with bouquets.

Venkat Chennubotla and Sneha Charurvedula entertained the audience with music and live singing of songs from Dr. Mohan Babu garu’s movies.
Bala Indurti thanked all the 30 table sponsors and Venkat Chennubhotla (Audio), Bytegraph (Video), Kiran Mudigonda (Photography), Narasimha Rao (registration), Sai Murali Restaurant for food & venue arrangements and freelance-journalist Mahadev Desai , for the Media Coverage.
