Consul General Hon. Ajit Kumar and his wife Margret hosted a reception at the Sheraton Atlanta on January 26, to celebrate the 63rd Republic Day of India. A diverse cross section of the Indian community in Atlanta attended the first ever community event hosted by the new consul general.

The Consul General and his wife warmly received each guest at the door, and intermingled with the invitees during the course of the evening.

In his brief address, Consul General Kumar said it would take a few months before the consulate in Atlanta would open for consular services. The consulate is currently housed at Pinnacle Building on Peachtree Road, while efforts are on to find and get approval on permanent space. CGI Houston will continue to serve the region until then, he added.
