BAPS Charities Hosts Community Walk in support of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

BY JYOTHSNA HEGDE

In keeping with its theme, “Building a Better Community, One Step at a Time,” the BAPS Charities annual walkathon was held on Sunday, April 29, 2012 in Lilburn, GA. Over 650 members of the community participated in this year’s walkathon.

Coming together to walk for a singular purpose, participants of all ages joined hands and raised funds to support this year’s local beneficiary, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA).

“I have walked for a number of years and it is again an honor to walk for such a noble cause," said Anand Mehta, Vice President of BAPS Charities. “BAPS Charities is honored to organize such an event. Walkathons like this one bring the community together and help to serve great causes. The enthusiasm behind this event is really the driving force to ensuring the success of today’s event.”

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is a local organization that aims to enhance the lives of children through excellence in patient care, research and education. With three hospitals and a number of local community clinics, it serves the children of Georgia with state of the art care.

A true 5K, the walk was held in Lilburn and inspired people to not only take the extra step in improving their community, but also advocate a healthier lifestyle.

Also in attendance at this year’s BAPS Charities Walkathon was Mike Berlon, Chairman of the Democratic Party of Georgia. Mr. Berlon’s presence showed his appreciation for the efforts of the participants.

With many centers participating in similar walks across North America, this is just one of many initiatives that BAPS Charities takes to support local communities. Throughout the year, BAPS Charities hosts medical fairs, education and career development seminars, blood drives and much more. BAPS Charities sincerely serves the community, by improving the quality of life of individuals and families. For information, please visit www.bapscharities.org
